Your record stays yours
Marrow keeps your record in a database of your own and shares it only with the service providers that run the service. It does not sell it and does not send your contacts' data to data brokers. The app opens your contacts, calendar, microphone, camera and photos only when you choose.
The Privacy page is the legal text; this page is the plain one. Marrow is in Beta.
Five statements Marrow holds itself to
- Marrow does not sell user data.
- Marrow does not give third parties access to user data.
- Marrow does not send users’ contacts’ data to data brokers.
- Training on data sent through the model providers’ APIs is switched off.
- Users can export their data.
The app opens each part of your phone for one job
| What | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | While you hold or tap the record button | Records the voice note you send; it is kept as a transcript |
| Camera and photos | When you choose to send a picture | Sends that photo. A cleaned copy, without location or camera data, shows in the chat for 30 days |
| Contacts | When you tap Import, or while “Marrow writes new people to this phone” is on | Import matches your phone’s people to your record and adds the rest. The writer adds the people Marrow creates, with every number and email and its label, and keeps the people it knows are on the phone current by adding what the phone lacks. It removes nothing and deletes no contact |
| Calendar | While “Marrow writes follow ups to this phone’s calendar” is on | Writes your follow ups into a calendar called Marrow and never reads your others. Switching it off removes that calendar |
| Notifications | When “Where Marrow reaches you” is “In this app” or “Both” | Delivers your brief and reminders through Expo’s push service and Apple’s and Google’s, which receive the push token and the notification text |
On the phone the app keeps its sign in token in the secure keychain, your interface language and a few settings. It has no advertising, no third party analytics and no tracking across apps or sites.
What leaves your account, and to whom
| What | Who receives it |
|---|---|
| What you send Marrow | The AI provider that reads it and writes the reply, and for a voice note the transcription provider, each acting on Marrow’s instructions |
| A lookup or a search for people you ask for, a profile link you give Marrow with someone you add, or a company lookup when you ask about a company or for a meeting brief and Marrow holds no recent brief of it | A third party provider of public profile data receives the name, company and location, the link, or the search terms, never your notes, an email address or a phone number; a company lookup also searches the open web through the AI provider and reads the company’s own site. Nobody is contacted |
| A list you share with Share list | Anyone with the link sees the list’s title and, per person, the name, role, company and profile link; never a status, a note or who you are. Stop sharing turns the link off |
| A list you export as a Google spreadsheet, only if you have connected a Google account | Your own Google account receives a new spreadsheet with the people you chose: name, role, company, location, profile link, status and the day found |
| A payment | A third party payment provider, named at checkout and the merchant of record, receives your card details; Marrow never does |
| A seat on a Teams plan | The buyer sees your email address on their team page and nothing else of yours |
Kept on the server, and for how long
Your record lives in one database per user. The conversation log Marrow keeps to follow recent messages is kept for 30 days. A sample of conversations, with names, companies, contact details and amounts replaced, is reviewed to find faults unless you turn that off in /settings on Telegram, in the web view, or by writing to us.
Deleting your account in Settings removes the record on every channel at once; backup copies rotate out within 30 days. Export first with Export everything in the app’s Settings, /export on Telegram, Export in the web view, or by writing to us. The steps.
What Marrow does not claim
No certification and no compliance badge. Traffic is encrypted in transit, the off site backup copies are encrypted before they leave the server, and access to the servers is by SSH key only.
