How to follow up after ADIPEC 2026
ADIPEC 2026 runs from 2 to 5 November at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi. Spend two minutes after each conversation on a note with a promise and a day, clear the cards each evening, and send each first message within forty eight hours.
ADIPEC 2026 runs from Monday 2 to Thursday 5 November 2026 at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi1. For everything about the event itself, use the organiser’s site.
The week at a glance: four steps that keep every promise
- Before Monday 2 November. Decide what a useful note holds, and book times with people you already know.
- On the floor. Two minutes after each conversation that matters, before the next one starts.
- Each evening. Match the day’s cards to their notes, sort them, and keep the promises due tomorrow.
- The week after. A first message inside forty eight hours, a second touch with something new, then let the rest go.
Before the event: a note you can write from a week later
A note is good enough if, a week later, you could write a specific message from it. Settle what it holds before you arrive:
- the name and company, spelled from the card or badge;
- their role, and whether they decide, advise or pass things on;
- the problem or project they described, in their words;
- what either of you promised, with the day it is due;
- one detail that brings the face back, such as who introduced you.
Then propose a day and a time to the people you already know will be there.
On the floor: two minutes turn a card into a person
When a conversation that matters ends, step aside and give it two minutes. Photograph the card first, then say or type the note, starting with the promise.
Write every promise with a day. “Send Ravindra the power cost comparison by Wednesday” can be checked on Wednesday; “send something” cannot.
A polite exchange gets a card photo and nothing more. That is a decision, not a lapse.
Each evening: the backlog is gone before you sleep
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Thursday after the close, give the day fifteen minutes.
- Put every card next to its note. A card with no note gets one line now.
- Sort the day’s people into three groups: people you owe something or who could buy, hire, fund or introduce; people worth knowing; polite exchanges.
- Send anything you promised for tomorrow, while the other person is still at the event.

The week after: the first message lands within forty eight hours
Write to each day’s first group within forty eight hours of meeting them: Monday’s people by Wednesday, Tuesday’s by Thursday, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s on Friday 6 November. Each message names where you met, one detail from the conversation, the thing you promised, and one next step with a day.
During the week of 9 November, send the people worth knowing one short note with no request in it.
On Monday 16 November, anyone in the first group who has not answered gets a second touch with something new: a document, a name, a date.
Then drop what is left. No reply after two messages is an answer you can accept.
Three messages you can send as written
A promise kept, inside forty eight hours
Ravindra, we met at ADIPEC on Tuesday and talked about the power bills of your temperature controlled warehouses in Chennai. The comparison I promised is attached: grid, diesel backup and rooftop solar, side by side. Would a short call next Thursday help you decide whether it is worth a site survey?
An introduction you offered
Benedikt, at ADIPEC on Wednesday you asked who could look at solar for the roof of the Nordlys depot. Omran Fakhoury, Head of Sales for the Middle East at Helios Rooftop Solar, is the person I had in mind, and I have copied him here. Omran, Benedikt is Head of Fleet at Nordlys Shipping. I will leave the two of you to find a time.
The second touch, with something new in it
Ravindra, one more note after ADIPEC. The solar installer I mentioned has since shared a maintenance schedule for a site the size of yours, and it is attached. If the timing is wrong, tell me and I will write again in the new year.
How Marrow helps
Marrow is an app on iPhone and Android, in Beta. After a conversation, send a voice note, a photo of the card or a screenshot of a chat, and it files the person, the context and the follow up with its date. Before you meet someone again, ask for a brief: the history, what is open, their company.
It drafts a message when you ask; you send it yourself. If leads from a stand belong in a shared company system, use that system: Marrow holds one person’s record, with no shared workspace.
