What is a CRM?

A CRM, short for customer relationship management, is software that keeps an organisation's shared record of its customers and prospects. It holds who they are, each interaction and the deals in progress, so a team shares one history and can report on it.

What it holds

Contacts and their companies, deals with a value and a stage, calls and meetings logged as activities, and tasks for team members. Reports sit on top, and the record belongs to the organisation.

An example

At Helios Rooftop Solar, the sales team logs each rooftop proposal in the company CRM: the client, the site visit, the quote and the stage reached. When Omran Fakhoury hands an account to a colleague, the history goes with it. If he leaves, it stays with Helios Rooftop Solar.

The personal variant

A personal CRM keeps one person’s own relationships and belongs to you, not an employer. Marrow is one, and it is in Beta.
